Tonoko White Japanese – Fine Powder for Kintsugi and Urushi
€6.50
White Tonoko – Japanese Mineral Powder for Kintsugi
White Tonoko is a traditional Japanese mineral powder used in kintsugi and Urushi lacquerwork. It is particularly useful for surface preparation and for making Sabi Urushi.
Mixed with Urushi lacquer, White Tonoko can be used to prepare a fine paste for filling minor imperfections, smoothing repaired areas and creating an even surface before the subsequent finishing layers.
Its light colour is particularly useful when a neutral or pale base is preferred, helping to avoid excessively darkening the preparation.
Uses:
- Preparation of Sabi Urushi
- Filling small irregularities and minor imperfections
- Smoothing repaired areas
- Surface preparation before finishing layers
- Creating a lighter, more neutral base for subsequent applications
- Traditional kintsugi and Urushi lacquerwork
Tonoko is available in several colours, including yellow, red and white. The choice depends on the surface, the preparation and the desired final appearance. White Tonoko is particularly suitable when a light and discreet base is required before the finishing stages.
