The Hake ya Kitsune 30 mm is a high-quality handcrafted Japanese brush specifically designed for the application of Urushi lacquer. Made in Japan with natural fox hair, it provides a fine, smooth and controlled application of lacquer.
Its 30 mm width makes it suitable for applying thin, even coats to small and medium-sized surfaces. The fine natural bristles help distribute the Urushi evenly while minimising visible brush marks and promoting a smooth finish.
This traditional Japanese brush can be used at various stages of Urushi lacquerwork, including the application of Suki Urushi, intermediate layers and finishing coats. It is also suitable for Maki-e, restoration and other traditional Japanese lacquer techniques.
Handcrafted in Japan, the Hake ya Kitsune reflects the specialised craftsmanship associated with traditional Japanese lacquer tools.

Hake ya Kitsune Brush Care and Cleaning
- Clean the brush immediately after use, using a little vegetable oil to remove the urushi, then wipe gently.
- Do not leave it soaking in water or oil, so as not to damage the fox fur.
- Reshape the brush head after cleaning and let it dry in a dry place.
- If it remains in good condition, the brush can be recut to prolong its lifespan.
