Hira Fude Flat Brush – For Urushi and Kintsugi
The Hira Fude flat brush is specially designed for the precise and even application of Urushi lacquer. Its flat shape is particularly well suited to wider repair lines, chipped areas and surfaces requiring a smooth, uniform coat during the various stages of traditional kintsugi.
Made with horsehair bristles, the brush allows for a smooth and controlled application of Urushi lacquer while providing excellent control over each movement.
The bamboo handle, wrapped in Japanese paper and finished with silk thread, combines lightness, precision and traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Its compact size and short handle also make it particularly convenient for working on small, narrow or difficult-to-reach areas.

Kintsugi Brush Care and Cleaning
Never wash brushes used with urushi lacquer with water.
New brushes are stiffened with glue: rinse them with warm water before use.
Always clean your brushes immediately after use with turpentine or, ideally, orange peel oil .
Remove the hairspray by gently sliding a spatula or stick from the base to the tip.
Carefully wipe the base of the bristles to remove any residue.
Proper maintenance prolongs the life of your brushes and guarantees precise and neat results.
