Urushi filter paper made from Broussonetia is a traditional Japanese paper specially adapted for filtering Urushi lacquer before use.
Made from Broussonetia fibers, also known as paper mulberry, it comes from the upper reaches of the Yoshino River in Nara Prefecture, Japan , a region renowned for its artisanal craftsmanship.
Its exceptional fineness allows it to filter the Urushi lacquer and eliminate dust, small debris, and impurities that could compromise the quality of the lacquer and its finish. Despite its fineness, this paper possesses excellent strength, facilitating the filtration of the Urushi lacquer during the various stages of the process.
It is particularly suitable for Kintsugi, Maki-e and Urushi Japanese lacquer work, where a clean and homogeneous lacquer is required to achieve a neat finish.
