Keyaki , or Japanese Zelkova , is a finely ground wood powder used in the traditional practice of Kintsugi to prepare Kokuso Urushi .
Kokuso Urushi is a thick, strong mixture, particularly suitable for filling large cracks, rebuilding missing parts, and restoring chipped ceramics . It is one of the essential preparations for traditional Kintsugi, alongside Mugi Urushi and Sabi Urushi .
Mixed with tonoko powder, water and Ki Urushi , Keyaki gives Kokuso the consistency needed to make solid repairs before the finishing stages.
