This pair of Japanese chopsticks made of sakura wood is crafted from Japanese cherry wood and offered unfinished, without varnish or protective coating , to allow for a traditional Urushi lacquer finish.
Measuring 20 cm in length, these natural wood chopsticks are particularly suited to the Fuki Urushi technique, a Japanese method consisting of applying and then wiping off successive thin layers of lacquer to protect the wood while revealing its natural grain.
The raw, porous wood allows the Urushi to penetrate the fibers during the various applications. With each layer, the finish highlights the nuances and natural character of the sakura wood .
These raw wood Japanese chopsticks are therefore an excellent medium for discovering or practicing Fuki Urushi and making your own personalized pair of chopsticks using a traditional Japanese technique.
