Tonoko red Yamashina earth is an essential ingredient in the practice of kintsugi and more particularly in the Sabi Urushi technique.

It is used for filling and covering surfaces before finishing.


Uses:

  • Mixed with tonoko, water and Ki Urushi lacquer, it creates a paste suitable for repairs.

  • Protects surfaces by forming a barrier that limits the movement of the substrate

  • Promotes excellent adhesion between coats of lacquer, ensuring a smooth and durable finish


A fundamental element of the Sabi Urushi process, red Tonoko Yamashina clay contributes to the solidity and longevity of the restorations.
