Urushi lacquers, made from the sap of the lacquer tree ( Toxicodendron vernicifluum ), are natural and durable but require certain precautions. Handling and safety<ul><li> Always wear gloves (nitrile or vinyl): fresh urushi can cause allergic reactions (eczema).</li><li> Do not handle with bare hands.</li><li> Work in a well-ventilated area, away from food and drinks.</li></ul> Drying<ul><li> Urushi dries by oxidation under humidity (75–80% / 20–25 °C).</li><li> Drying time: from 12 hours to several days depending on thickness and conditions.</li></ul> Cleaning and storage<ul><li> Clean the tools with vegetable oil (camellia, rapeseed, etc.), then with alcohol or soap.</li><li> Keep the tube tightly closed, away from heat and light.</li><li> Do not allow lacquer to dry on tools.</li></ul> In case of contact<ul><li> Rinse immediately with vegetable oil, then with soapy water.</li><li> Consult a healthcare professional in case of a skin reaction.</li></ul>
