Tonoko yellow is a traditional Japanese clay powder used in the preparation of kintsugi and urushi lacquer work. It serves as a base for filling, smoothing, and stabilizing repairs on ceramics.
Made from finely ground natural materials, this tonoko allows for a homogeneous surface before the gold or silver finishing stages.
- Ideal for traditional and modern kintsugi
- Excellent adhesion with urushi
- Fine texture and easy to work with
- Natural product imported from Japan
Use: Mix with urushi to create a repair paste (sabi)
Difference in tonoko
- 🟡 Yellow → versatile
Used for most of the steps (sabi, preparation)
🔴 Red → stronger
Ideal for filling and reinforcing repairs
⚪ White → thinner / neutral
