Roiro-zumi is a traditional Japanese polishing charcoal, used to achieve the ultimate finish of Roiro-nuri : a deep, glossy black mirror surface, called roiro (“glossy black”).
Made from dense woods like Japanese oak, this extremely fine charcoal is used with camellia oil , guaranteeing a delicate, scratch-free polish. It is used as the final step, after Suruga-zumi (flattening) and Hōh-zumi (soft finishing).
Indispensable for the refined techniques of Kintsugi and Maki-e , Roiro-zumi gives your creations an intense glow and unparalleled brilliance.
