Ho-Zumi charcoal is a traditional Japanese charcoal with a granular and abrasive texture , specially designed for the initial stages of polishing .
Used in Japanese artisan workshops, it serves to prepare surfaces before more delicate finishing work.
Thanks to its slightly rough structure, Ho-zumi charcoal helps to even out irregularities , smooth out reliefs and provide a perfectly ready base for subsequent sanding or lacquering steps.
